The Renault Kwid has an electrical cousin called the City K-ZE and it’s just introduced on the Chinese market.
Renault City K-ZE has the same theme as Kwid’s forthcoming facelift.
Renault Claimed 271 km range on the cycle of the NEDC. Using DC fast charger, it takes half an hour to charge from 30 to 80% of the battery.
Kwid’s all-electric version is fitted with 26.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack to power its 44PS/125Nm electric motor.
Built on a CMF-A platform, the same as the Kwid, but features some electrical train modifications.
The City K-ZE could be the base for the Renault EV arriving in India in 2022.
At the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show, Renault revealed the Kwid’s all-electric version. It appeared for the first time as a prototype at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, named the City K-ZE. Originally, the K-ZE will go on sale in China and sometime later make its European debut. Now that Renault City K-ZE is not available on the Indian market, it will be available in the future. But the electric Kwid shares his looks with India’s new Kwid facelift, which is scheduled to launch by the end of September 2019. The City K-ZE’s 26.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack has a reported range of 271 km. Nonetheless, for city driving, a 200 km plus range is still good. In the near future, the all-electric Kwid will likely be introduced in India. They are going to compete with WagonR EV, Tata H2X-based EV and Mahindra KUV100 Electric. Pricing forecast below Rs 10 lakh.
