Hyundai Teases the All-new i20

The third-gen i20 luxury hatchback was teased by Hyundai ahead of its impending launch in November before Diwali 2020. Though spy shots gave us a clear idea of what the hatchback ‘s India-spec version will look like, these teasers affirm the concept and what to expect. Also, the ‘Elite’ tag was dropped from the name of the i20.

First Look

Like the new Creta, the third-generation i20 meets the style philosophy of Hyundai ‘Sensuous Sportniness.’ The style is very geometric in nature and it sure stands out due to the deep cuts and creases. Unlike in every other Hyundai vehicle, the rectangular headlights flow through the hexagonal grille, with the grille itself now having rectangular parts. The fog lamp housing, though, reminds one of the other vehicles in the lineup of Hyundai. The bar of LED DRLs running around the headlamps’ upper rim offers an offensive front end to the new i20.

Expecting Engine & gearbox

Although this has not been confirmed by Hyundai, it is expected that the i20 will offer the same engine options as the Venue. So the options range from a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 83PS/113Nm coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission or CVT, a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol that produces 120PS/173Nm and can be coupled with a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) or 7-speed dual clutch transmission, or a 1.5-liter diesel engine that produces 100PS/240Nm and can be fitted with a 6-speed manual transmission.
