As of June 2020, Force Motors is expected to introduce the latest Gurkha. Earlier in February, the carmaker had unveiled the new off-roader version at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The latest SUV on the exterior may look identical to the outgoing Gurkha but it has been completely reworked. Within, the latest Gurkha SUV sports comfortable comforts such as power windows, and an infotainment display system – a first for the brand.
Perhaps more important are the technical improvements on the off-roader. The Gurkha boasts an all-new platform and coil ladder design springing up all over. Force Motors rendered these improvements in an attempt to turn the face of the Gurkha from being a practical off-roader to a successful second vehicle.
Under the hood is a 90hp, 2.6-liter BS6-compliant diesel engine with a four-wheel drive and lockable differentials. There are discussions about a more efficient 2.2-liter engine to be considered later. The carmaker also confirmed that it is also preparing to launch a two-wheel-drive variant, more body modifications, and multiple wheelbase models.
The Force Gurkha should challenge the all-new Mahindra Thar in terms of competition, which will also land in India by mid-2020. Furthermore, the new Maruti Suzuki Jimny who is expected to debut next year will also see pressure.
