Toyota Urban Cruiser Teased

Toyota recently posted a preview from the forthcoming Urban Cruiser SUV, though at the moment we were just able to catch a glance of the branding on the grill and some alloy wheels. Now the Japanese carmaker posted a second teaser which also reveals a lot more of the two and a number of different features.

Unless you’re new to the whole Urban Cruiser story, you should realize it’s Toyota ‘s second effort to rebadge Maruti vehicles, following the Glanza inspired by the Baleno. All carmakers have a collaboration, which helps them to cross-badge the goods of each other.

The Urban Cruiser ‘s latest teaser reveals a little more of the alloy wheels which are similar to those provided on the Vitara Brezza aside from the Toyota badge in the centre. It seems like Toyota has undergone some improvements at the front however. The bumper was sculpted again, and now has a more aggressive appearance. The two chrome appliques that make up the Vitara Brezza front grille is replaced by two horizontal black pieces, flanked by two silver garnishing elements. The housing of the fog lamps was also redesigned. Look at it for a while and you can find a similarity to the bigger SUVs like the Fortuner on Toyota.

Does the appeal remain intact until you see the whole front fascia? It’s just time to learn. And the time will arrive early because Toyota has announced that it would unleash the Urban Cruiser in the upcoming festive season. If you want to put money down on one before that happens, Toyota’s word is that they will start accepting reservations from August-end.

The Urban Cruiser will share all of its interiors with the Vitara Brezza, meaning that the only engine on offer will be a 1.5-liter petrol engine with either a 5-speed manual or an automatic 4-speed engine. You’ll get a mild-hybrid system, just like the Brezza, too. The feature list would also be the same as the Vitara Brezza, but we suspect Toyota would only be selling the Urban Cruiser in select ‘well-loaded’ models. And just like the Glanza promises a better guarantee package than the Baleno, it’s always predicted that the Urban Cruiser would come with a better guarantee package than the Vitara Brezza, too. The Vitara Brezza is sold with a regular 2-year/40,000 km guarantee, for example.
