Toyota Urban Cruiser Officially Teased

Toyota published the new sub-4 m SUV’s first teaser picture while stating that it would be renamed the Urban Cruiser. This will be released with official bookings expected to begin in the second half of August during the holiday season.

This looks like the smallest Toyota SUV on the teaser picture and should sport a two-slat grille as seen on the Fortuner. It is planned that the SUV built on Maruti Vitara Brezza would get a revised front fascia with new headlamps, revised alloy wheels and different color choices to set it apart from the donor model.

The Urban Cruiser would be driven under the hood by the 1.5-liter petrol engine produced by the Vitara Brezza, which produces 105PS and 138Nm. A 5-speed manual, as well as a 4-speed AT gearbox will be available. Toyota could sell its sub-4 m SUV with Suzuki ‘s mild-hybrid tech to increase the fuel performance, as seen on the donor SUV.

Toyota is supposed to deliver the same functionality as the Urban Cruiser used on the Vitara Brezza. This includes auto AC, a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen system (with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), rain-sensing wipers, and cruise control. It’s impossible to have car tech linked though. Toyota may promise to further differentiate the Urban Cruiser with fresh upholstery and a double-tone interior.
