Tata HBX AMT spied

The upcoming Tata SUV-styled entry-level offering has been spied on many times and it looks similar to launch. Although the exterior looks a lot like the HBX model as promised by the carmaker, in the new spy shot, an automatic transmission was recently spotted, indicating it could be offered at sale.

A petrol-only offering with the same 1.2-litre engine as that of the Altroz is supposed to be the HBX-based offering. A 5-speed manual is expected to be offered for this unit, rated at 86PS and 113Nm, while an AMT is likely to be the automatic spy option. In the future, an all-electric version of this micro-SUV could be offered.

At Auto Expo 2020, Tata presented the HBX model, and the interior of the spy test mule looked identical. Any features, including the steering wheel and the 7.0 inch floating touchscreen panel for the infotainment device, should be shared with other Tata models. A semi-digital instrument cluster and an auto AC are both expected to be packed. The styling is chunky around the dash, just like the outside.
