A new Nissan-badged rival named the Magnite will soon earn the sub-4m SUV portion. Its formal launch is planned for December 2, with official reservations scheduled to begin in the coming days. Meanwhile, tentative pre-launch bookings for a token deposit of Rs 11,000 are still ongoing.
Nissan’s SUV is going to be a fuel-only offering. The option of a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated unit and a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine will be given. The former is the same engine that drives the Renault Triber (72PS/96Nm) and can only be coupled with a manual 5-speed transmission. On the other side, either a 5-speed MT or a CVT automatic will be sold with the latest 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. With the CVT, this engine churns out up to 100PS and 152Nm, while the MT-equipped models’ torque output stands at 160Nm. These are the same engines that her cousin, the Renault Kiger, is supposed to fuel, which was recently unveiled in its pre-production guise.
The Magnite will come with a few segment-firsts on the features front, such as a 360-degree camera, Apple CarPlay wireless and Android Auto support, 7-inch driver monitor, and JBL sound system. With LED DRLs, LED fog lights, auto AC and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, it also gets LED projector headlamps. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors are expected to have standard safety features.
