New Mercedes-Benz GLS launch on June 17

Martin Schwenk, CEO and MD of Mercedes-Benz India, has confirmed via social media that the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLS will go on sale in India on June 17, 2020. Here’s a quick summary of details from the GLS.

The GLS is Merc ‘s largest SUV, measuring over 5 m in length, and sits at the top of the carmaker’s monocoque-bodied SUV list. Aside from the wide scale, the GLS also stands out because of its upright design, while Mercedes is new-age style. The new GLS is not significantly bigger than the previous-gen model but an improvement in wheelbase provides ample legroom for passengers in the second and third-row.

Not only would the GLS be high on room but also large on software. A 12.3-inch graphical instrument panel, the latest MBUX infotainment system from Mercedes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen design, a modern touchpad steering wheel and a touchpad on the center console are only a couple of the amenities inside. Many engineering technologies on board include dynamic air suspension and auto-parking.

With a 3.0-liter petrol engine producing 367hp and 500Nm torque, the latest GLS is expected to be sold. The mainstay of the series, though, would be the 3.0-liter diesel engine, 286hp/600Nm. As for Merc’s all-wheel-drive setup, a 9-speed automatic will be standard.
