Marazzo Spotted With AMT Badging

It was proposed that automatic transmission and a turbo-petrol engine were both in the pipeline when Mahindra introduced the BS6 Marazzo. And now, eventually, an Automated Marazzo test mule has been spotted.

The Marazzo pictured here is without any form of camouflage, and the ‘AutoShift’ logo on the boot lid is the giveaway that it is an automatic version. On the XUV300, which comes with the option of an AMT gearbox with its diesel engine, the same badge is also present. This leads one to conclude that the Marazzo diesel variant is also going to make use of the AMT.

Now, although the image of the diesel engine and its automatic transmission is very obvious, the petrol specifics are still quite murky. We haven’t seen a test mule of the same, but the 1.5-litre mStallion turbo engine seen at the 2020 Auto Expo will be the petrol engine. This engine is currently expected to discharge up to 160PS, and an automatic transmission is also expected to be under its belt.
