Honda is providing significant discounts and incentives on select models of the older fourth-gen City with the fifth-gen Honda City landing in showrooms last month. Customers can take advantage of incentives on the fourth-gen City up to Rs 1.6 lakh which will remain on sale alongside the new mid-size sedan.
As mentioned above, depending on the variant the fourth gene City is available with benefits of up to Rs 1.6 lakh. Actually available in four trim levels – SV, V, VX, and ZX – it’s the latter two with the maximum benefits available.
The City ZX is provided, depending on the gearbox, with benefits of between Rs 1.30-1.60 lakh. The ZX CVT models are available with a cash discount of up to Rs 1.10 lakh while the manual enjoys a cash discount of lesser Rs 80,000.
The mid-spec VX trim is available with cash discounts up to Rs 70,000. In addition, the City ZX – manual and CVT, and VX CVT models with exchange benefits up to Rs 50,000 are also eligible.
At the other hand, the lower entry level SV and V trimming rates only receive benefits of up to Rs 51,000, including exchange benefits.
As stated by us earlier, Honda is expected to streamline the model line-up of the fourth-gen City to just the SV and V trim and drop the CVT gearbox option. This is being done to prevent too much overlap between the fourth and fifth-gen models with Honda having decided to sell both models simultaneously.
The higher discounts may be a bid to drive higher model sales and clear inventories with the VX and ZX trims set to ax shortly.
Moving to the rest of Honda’s line-up, the carmaker is offering significant discounts on the Civic executive diesel sedan. The Civic Diesel comes with a cash discount of up to Rs 2.5 lakh. The Civic gas enjoys a cash discount of up to Rs 1 lakh.
