Renault’s All New sub-4 meter SUV Rival Spotted

Renault has yet to enter the Indian sub-4 meter SUV segment. His potential contender known by the HBC codename was again spied, still wrapped in camouflage.

Renault’s patents indicate that the sub-4 m SUV is expected to be identified at launch as the Kiger. The spy shots show crossover style with a coupe-like roofline while the Kwid-inspired front end with a divided headlamp configuration seems to be. Higher variants are expected to feature the headlamps with LED illumination. The test mule seen here may be a lower variant because it featured steel wheels rather than alloys.

The Renault Kiger is based on the same MPV architecture as the Triber sub-4 m. As a result, both front and rear passengers are supposed to be providing a comfortable cabin with plenty of legroom. The Kiger is expected to be a well-equipped product with items such as a semi-digital instrument panel, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with integrated vehicle software and more than two airbags.

The Renault Kiger is expected to be powered by the 1.0-liter Triber petrol engine that produces 72PS of power and a peak torque of 96Nm. This engine is sold in the Triber with the two gearbox options: a 5-speed manual and Reanult’s Easy-R AMT. Also, the Kiger might get a new 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces around 100PS and 160Nm. With the option of a 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT, this motor could be sold.

Renault’s sub-4 meter SUV was expected to be unveiled at Auto Expo 2020 but it never made it to the show floor for reasons unknown to us. In the coming months, we expect Renault to announce the SUV and introduce it during the holiday season 2020, with a price tag varying from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
