Maruti Launches BS6-Compliant CNG Celerio At Rs 5.61 Lakh

Maruti Suzuki offers a range of factory-fitted CNG vehicles, and the Celerio joined the list during the BS6 era. This budget hatchback greener version is priced between Rs 5.37 lakh and Rs 5.68 lakh (ex-showroom India)

The Celerio’s engine gets from the factory itself a dual interdependent ECU that has been tuned for use with both petrol and CNG. The 1.0 liter engine can produce 68PS and 90Nm of torque when running on petrol. However, those figures fell to 59PS and 78Nm while operating on CNG. But the downside of the CNG resides in the vehicle’s fuel costs. Due to its high fuel efficiency of 30.47km / kg and the lower cost of CNG it can run for a similar distance as its petrol counterpart at a fraction of the cost. The efficiency was reduced by 1.29km / kg compared to the BS4 CNG variant.

The CNG Celerio transmission option is a 5-speed manual only, unlike its petrol-powered variants which also come with an AMT option.

Because you can’t buy the Celerio top-spec edition in CNG form, you’ll have to do without apps like keyless access, tachometer, and audio system. In the safety aspect, it gets an airbag on the driver side, ABS with EBD, and rear braking sensors while the VXI(O) even gets an airbag on the passenger side, bringing the total amount to two.
