Hyundai has launched an AMT gearbox option in the Grand i10 Nios ‘ top-spec petrol Asta model. The carmaker’s entry-level hatchback, the Santro, now replicates the same formula. It is priced at Rs 6.25 lakh while its manual equivalent is priced at Rs 5.78 lakh, suggesting an Rs 47,000 price difference.
Until now, just like the Grand i10 Nios, the Santro has only been offered with an AMT gearbox in the mid-spec Magna and Sportz models. These are priced respectively at Rs 5.52 lakh, and Rs 5.98 lakh. The top-spec Asta AMT costs more than the Magna AMT and Sportz AMT models respectively Rs 73,000 and Rs 27,000.
The Santro comes with a 1.1-liter BS6-compliant petrol engine that produces 69PS of power and 99Nm of torque. This engine comes with either a manual 5-speed gearbox or an optional 5-speed AMT. It’s also available in the Magna and Sportz versions with a CNG package.
