Hyundai Elite i20 Diesel Discontinued In India

Just ahead of its March 31 BS6 deadline, Hyundai India has discontinued its iconic hatchback, the Elite i20, with diesel models. The manufacturer has removed the luxury hatchback diesel models from their official web site.

The Elite i20 diesel came with a 1.4-liter CRDI engine that produced power at 90PS and torque at 220Nm. It was only offered with a manual 6-speed transmission. The 1.4-liter unit of the i20 was known for being extremely refined in design and providing linear power.

In its next version the i20’s diesel models will make a comeback. A 1.5-liter CRDI engine, which is expected to produce 100PS of fuel, will drive the next-gen i20. This is the same engine which will fuel the upcoming BS6-compliant Venue diesel as well. In the upcoming i20, Hyundai will also dive into the sportier 120PS 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine.

The i20 is currently offered with a 1.2-liter BS6-compliant Kappa petrol engine, which produces 83PS of power and 113Nm of torque. Priced at Rs 6.50 lakh (ex-showroom)
